Escape To: Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid
Ahhh Madrid...❤️
If you let me, I could go on for days about my love for Spain. The food, the wine, the culture, the sightseeing...I just can't get enough. I have had the extreme good fortune to travel to Spain 5 times, but June 2016 was the first time that I had been there in the summer (I definitely wasn't prepared for the temperature!!). Craving some reprieve from the late night heat, I was taken by my host and friend, Victor, to discover one of Madrid's best kept secrets...
Located on top of the Circulo de Bellas Artes (the Fine Arts Building), the Tartan Roof Bar offers some of the most spectacular panoramic views of the city. A four-Euro lift ticket will get you from the cultural centre on the ground floor to the rooftop terrace where you will find some of Madrid's hippest locals lounging with cocktails and cooling off in the mist of built in water spritzers.
We arrived just in time to catch a breathtaking sunset and settled in to spend the rest of the night enjoying DJ tracks and bottles of San Miguel. Hands down one of my favourite memories from all of my travels to Spain.
