Give Your Home The "Spooky Chic" Treatment For Halloween

Confession time...I've never really been a giant fan of Halloween, least of all, decorating my home for it. There has been the odd year where I've gotten into the spirit and pulled a great costume together, but I've just never been able to get behind spending money on crappy, cheap plastic throw-away decor that's most likely to end up in the landfill.
Recently, though, I came across an image on Instagram that totally got me thinking about Halloween decor in a new way_ dark and stylish with a touch of whimsy. I was so inspired by the chicness and simplicity of those bats on the fireplace that it sparked a search for more "Haute Halloween" ideas that trade kitsch, for killer style.
Have cloche will decorate:
Few decor items signify upscale elegance more than a classic glass cloche. I love the idea of simply placing a party store raven or skull inside, or using a mini cloche for a personalized table settling.

Painted Pumpkins:
Don’t want to clutter your perfectly styled interior with a bunch of garish orange gourds? Painting your pumpkins in your own Halloween colour scheme is a fast and affordable DIY that brings a touch of seasonal style.

Halloween Meets High Fashion:
Tulle covered balloons…I mean…is this not one of the most stylish decor ideas you’ve ever seen??? I’m feeling all the Alexander McQueen vibes here - who’s with me?

Dollar Store Chic:
Though I previously failed to see the merit of plastic creepy crawlies from the dollar store or costume shop, I have to admit, seeing them meticulously placed in these beautiful tablescapes adds just the right touch of whimsy.

Black Magic:
Simple and inexpensive to boot: adding long, thin black taper candles is the perfect way to add some spooky glamour to your Halloween table.

Ghostly Props:
A well-placed murder of crows, bowls of skulls and bones, a colony of bats flying across the wall…try grouping your Halloween props together to add a greater visual punch.
